Ricky also appeared in 2009's Strictly Come Dancing shattering numerous records for the most tens ever in the competition and the highest marks ever for his quickstep,argentine tango,cha cha and rock n roll. Despite outscoring Chris Hollins in the final,Ricky walked away runner up but his head held high with glowing praise from judges and public alike with head judge Len Goodman claiming Ricky to be the best he's ever seen! Ricky went onto praise Chris Hollins as a worthy champion and hailed his dance partner Natalie Lowe as the best teacher,dancer and choreographer in the history of the show. He regarded the show as his favourite but hardest job to date and has continued to dance since it ended. He blogged his progress which is available on this site.
Ricky left Hollyoaks june 2010 and walked straight into BBC1 comedy Candy cabs playing footballer and husband to be Eddie Shannon making it four weddings and a funeral for the actor. Filming finished in july before rehearsals began for his new project,making it three shows aired in the lead up to christmas 2010
Ricky has also taken up many charities and has put his name and support to various causes such as check 'em lads,jump,fable,make a wish,alder hey childrens hospital,claire house,5star scanner appeal,cancer research,ben roe appeal,christies,help for heroes,help not hate,anti racist/bullying and knife crime causes,comic relief,fresh2o,womens aid,jeans for genesand wwf.
